Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Consumer Durables, Power and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.39%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT), which rose 3.58% or 30.75 points to trade at 889.45 at the close. Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) added 3.54% or 92.05 points to end at 2696.00 and Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) was up 2.15% or 20.60 points to 979.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO), which lost 3.59% or 17.15 points to trade at 461.00 in late trade. NTPC Limited (NS:NTPC) declined 2.77% or 4.50 points to end at 158.10 and Indiabulls (NS:INBF) shed 2.71% or 31.70 points to 1138.45.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which rose 3.63% to 2695.40, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was up 2.00% to settle at 979.45 and Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which gained 0.91% to close at 560.65.
The worst performers were Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was down 3.58% to 460.90 in late trade, NTPC Limited (BO:NTPC) which lost 2.65% to settle at 158.25 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was down 2.28% to 171.50 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1084 to 477 and 3 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1734 fell and 897 advanced, while 149 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.07% to 11.1325.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.90% or 11.54 to $1294.24 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.11% or 0.05 to hit $47.45 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.18% or 0.09 to trade at $49.56 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.17% to 64.433, while EUR/INR rose 0.06% to 72.4680.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 96.68.
