Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Food, Beverages & Tobacco and Banking sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 fell 0.47%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB), which rose 2.56% or 0.10 points to trade at 3.98 at the close. Meanwhile, Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) added 1.35% or 0.31 points to end at 23.30 and Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT) was up 0.36% or 0.09 points to 25.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ), which fell 3.33% or 1.00 points to trade at 28.72 at the close. Firstcity Bnk (LAGOS:FCMB) declined 3.10% or 0.09 points to end at 2.81 and Dangflour (LAGOS:DANGFLO) was down 3.03% or 0.10 points to 3.23.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lagos Stock Exchange by 34 to 19 and 42 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 1.05% or 0.51 to $47.94 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 1.55% or 0.85 to hit $54.41 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.90% or 9.90 to trade at $1084.20 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.26% to 218.210, while USD/NGN rose 0.17% to 199.260.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.12% at 97.40.
