Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Oil & Gas Producers, Oil & Gas and Industrial Engineering sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.33% to hit a new 1-month low, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.30%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were AXA SA (PA:AXAF), which rose 3.23% or 0.79 points to trade at 25.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) added 1.73% or 0.47 points to end at 27.71 and Renault SA (PA:RENA) was up 1.54% or 1.41 points to 92.85 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Solvay SA (BR:SOLB), which fell 2.45% or 2.34 points to trade at 92.87 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) declined 2.36% or 0.10 points to end at 3.97 and Total SA (PA:TOTF) was down 2.27% or 1.01 points to 43.45.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were AXA SA (PA:AXAF) which rose 3.23% to 25.25, Air France KLM SA (PA:AIRF) which was up 3.05% to settle at 6.390 and Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) which gained 2.19% to close at 27.540.
The worst performers were Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was down 4.99% to 8.90 in late trade, Maurel Et Prom (PA:MAUP) which lost 3.85% to settle at 2.90 and DBV Technologies (PA:DBV) which was down 3.33% to 64.690 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 438 to 287 and 67 ended unchanged.
Shares in ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) fell to 5-year lows; falling 2.36% or 0.10 to 3.97. Shares in Maurel Et Prom (PA:MAUP) fell to 5-year lows; down 3.85% or 0.12 to 2.90.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 0.45% to 22.21.
Gold for February delivery was up 2.18% or 23.10 to $1084.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 2.68% or 1.10 to hit $39.98 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.56% or 0.69 to trade at $43.16 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.91% to 1.0842, while EUR/GBP fell 0.53% to 0.7186.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.77% at 98.57.
