Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Metals, Power and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 1.21%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 1.21%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were TATA STEEL LIMITED (NS:TISC), which rose 5.07% or 12.40 points to trade at 257.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Power Co. Ltd (NS:TTPW) added 4.44% or 2.75 points to end at 64.75 and Vedanta Ltd (NS:VDAN) was up 3.69% or 3.10 points to 87.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bosch Ltd (NS:BOSH), which fell 2.01% or 376.75 points to trade at 18341.45 at the close. Cairn India Limited (NS:CAIL) declined 0.99% or 1.30 points to end at 130.00 and Idea Cellular Ltd (NS:IDEA) was down 0.89% or 1.20 points to 133.75.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO:TISC) which rose 4.76% to 256.55, Tata Power Co. Ltd (BO:TTPW) which was up 4.03% to settle at 64.55 and Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which gained 3.75% to close at 87.15.
The worst performers were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was down 0.97% to 224.35 in late trade, AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which lost 0.45% to settle at 435.35 and Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) which was down 0.28% to 343.10 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1157 to 299 and 11 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 612 rose and 166 declined, while 16 ended unchanged.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 15.02% to 14.2150 a new 6-months low.
Gold for February delivery was down 1.03% or 11.10 to $1065.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.94% or 0.34 to hit $35.19 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.36% or 0.14 to trade at $37.26 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.03% to 66.420, while EUR/INR fell 0.55% to 72.1360.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.46% at 98.86.
