Investing.com -- It’s set to be a major week in Canadian economics, with the big story to be the Consumer Price Index due Wednesday. Investors will be hoping for a positive surprise (as with last week’s US CPI), that will allow the Bank of Canada leeway to further slow or pause the pace of its rate hikes.

However, CPI will not be the only Canadian inflation index due this week. On Friday, Statistics Canada will release its Industrial Product and Raw Materials Price Indices, indicating the cost of goods as they enter and leave Canadian factories. Friday will also see the release of the Teranet/National Bank Home Price index, expected to see a continued moderation.

TSX Earnings will also continue in full swing this week with a focus on miners (Turquoise Hill, Ivanhoe, K92) and grocers (Metro (TSX:MRU), Loblaws)
