Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Manufacturing, Power and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 0.14%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were SG mechel (MCX:MTLR), which rose 3.46% or 2.17 points to trade at 64.87 at the close. Meanwhile, Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) added 2.47% or 1.44 points to end at 59.84 and NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK) was up 2.38% or 1.53 points to 65.83 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were MMK (MCX:MAGN), which fell 4.14% or 0.825 points to trade at 19.095 at the close. Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p) declined 3.13% or 1.370 points to end at 42.430 and Sollers (MCX:SVAV) was down 2.14% or 9.0 points to 412.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 120 to 88 and 7 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 13.93% to 31.710 a new 3-months low.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.43% or 4.60 to $1071.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.10% or 0.41 to hit $36.75 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.28% or 0.52 to trade at $39.59 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.77% to 68.794, while EUR/RUB fell 1.08% to 75.600.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.56% at 97.88.
