Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Power, Mining and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 0.43%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO), which rose 8.72% or 0.1500 points to trade at 1.8700 at the close. Magnit (MCX:MGNT) added 4.36% or 394.0 points to end at 9430.0 and ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) was up 3.71% or 2.730 points to 76.220 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ros Agro PLC (MCX:AGRO), which lost 2.70% or 25 points to trade at 900 in late trade. PhosAgro ao (MCX:PHOR) declined 1.94% or 57.0 points to end at 2875.0 and United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL) shed 1.50% or 0.330 points to 21.600.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 113 to 102 and 16 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.53% to 33.590.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.31% or 3.95 to $1276.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 3.22% or 1.49 to hit $47.70 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 2.68% or 1.28 to trade at $49.11 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.91% to 64.8565, while EUR/RUB fell 0.71% to 73.500.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.16% at 94.45.
