Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the IT, Technology and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the S&P CNX Nifty lost 0.56%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.65%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P CNX Nifty were Vedanta Ltd (NS:VDAN), which rose 7.05% or 7.30 points to trade at 110.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) added 5.60% or 4.70 points to end at 88.65 and NMDC Ltd (NS:NMDC) was up 3.07% or 2.95 points to 99.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY), which fell 3.81% or 44.50 points to trade at 1122.90 at the close. Bank Of Baroda (NS:BOB) declined 2.91% or 5.30 points to end at 176.80 and Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN) was down 2.23% or 45.80 points to 2009.80.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which rose 7.00% to 110.85, Hindalco Industries Ltd. (BO:HALC) which was up 5.98% to settle at 88.65 and Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) which gained 2.49% to close at 319.00.
The worst performers were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was down 3.88% to 1122.50 in late trade, Cipla Ltd. (BO:CIPL) which lost 1.71% to settle at 676.35 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 1.58% to 892.00 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 780 to 651 and 23 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 446 fell and 340 advanced, while 4 ended unchanged.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of S&P CNX Nifty options, was up 1.04% to 19.1225.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.93% or 10.70 to $1166.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.20% or 0.10 to hit $49.73 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.43% or 0.23 to trade at $53.13 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.04% to 64.805, while EUR/INR rose 0.26% to 73.7650.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.19% at 94.75.
