Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financials, Basic Materials and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.80% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4), which rose 7.69% or 0.280 points to trade at 3.920 at the close. Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) added 4.36% or 0.98 points to end at 23.48 and ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) was up 3.53% or 0.240 points to 7.040 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lojas Americanas SA (SA:LAME4), which lost 1.90% or 0.38 points to trade at 19.59 in late trade. Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) declined 1.80% or 0.19 points to end at 10.34 and Cia Energetica de Minas Gerais (SA:CMIG4) shed 1.68% or 0.16 points to 9.38.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 162 to 152 and 15 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.37% to 33.18.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.25% or 3.45 to $1353.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.69% or 0.32 to hit $46.90 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 1.54% or 2.12 to trade at $135.10 .
USD/BRL was up 0.16% to 3.2071, while EUR/BRL rose 0.22% to 3.6201.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.03% at 94.72.
