Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Consumer Goods and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 lost 0.43%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which rose 4.73% or 0.341 points to trade at 7.550 at the close. International Consolidated Airlines Group SA (MC:ICAG) added 2.30% or 0.124 points to end at 5.513 and Acerinox (MC:ACX) was up 1.87% or 0.235 points to 12.825 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Popular (MC:POP), which lost 2.70% or 0.027 points to trade at 0.973 in late trade. Viscofan (MC:VIS) declined 2.25% or 1.100 points to end at 47.860 and Endesa (MC:ELE) shed 1.72% or 0.345 points to 19.685.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 84 to 77 and 17 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.16% or 1.85 to $1183.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 1.02% or 0.53 to hit $51.43 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 1.20% or 0.66 to trade at $54.28 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.18% to 1.0556, while EUR/GBP fell 0.12% to 0.8686.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.12% at 102.04.
