Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Power, Oil & Gas and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 1.68%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY), which rose 2.62% or 19.00 points to trade at 745.00 at the close. Akron (MCX:AKRN) added 0.73% or 24.0 points to end at 3334.0 and PhosAgro ao (MCX:PHOR) was up 0.62% or 15.0 points to 2425.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included MosEnrg (MCX:MSNG), which lost 5.66% or 0.1360 points to trade at 2.2650 in late trade. Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI) declined 4.53% or 0.0450 points to end at 0.9490 and FSK EES (MCX:FEES) shed 4.02% or 0.0074 points to 0.1779.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 162 to 52 and 15 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 3.24% to 24.220.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.07% or 13.45 to $1266.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.03% or 0.53 to hit $52.23 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.71% or 0.39 to trade at $55.28 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 1.24% to 57.0928, while EUR/RUB rose 1.14% to 60.699.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 100.87.
