Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Consumer Durables, Healthcare and IT sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 1.87%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 1.64%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Yes Bank Ltd. (NS:YESB), which rose 11.21% or 75.25 points to trade at 746.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Vedanta Ltd (NS:VDAN) added 6.61% or 4.45 points to end at 71.75 and Hero MotoCorp Limited (NS:HROM) was up 5.17% or 126.05 points to 2565.65 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bank Of Baroda (NS:BOB), which fell 3.65% or 4.75 points to trade at 125.40 at the close. State Bank Of India (NS:SBI) declined 2.89% or 5.35 points to end at 179.90 and TATA STEEL LIMITED (NS:TISC) was down 1.77% or 4.50 points to 249.70.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which rose 6.62% to 71.70, Coal India Limited (BO:COAL) which was up 4.73% to settle at 320.05 and Hero MotoCorp Limited (BO:HROM) which gained 4.67% to close at 2562.80.
The worst performers were State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was down 2.91% to 179.95 in late trade, TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO:TISC) which lost 1.71% to settle at 250.05 and NTPC Limited (BO:NTPC) which was down 1.32% to 142.20 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 973 to 500 and 6 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 546 rose and 250 declined, while 17 ended unchanged.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.69% to 17.2400.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.22% or 2.40 to $1113.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.08% or 0.03 to hit $33.24 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.13% or 0.04 to trade at $34.76 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.25% to 67.885, while EUR/INR fell 0.51% to 74.1030.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.44% at 99.06.
