Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Mining, Telecoms and Manufacturing sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 0.55%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were MVideo (MCX:MVID), which rose 3.24% or 8.30 points to trade at 264.70 at the close. Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO) added 2.82% or 0.0450 points to end at 1.6400 and AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) was up 2.11% or 3800 points to 183800 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF), which lost 4.12% or 28.00 points to trade at 651.00 in late trade. Sberbank (MCX:SBER) declined 2.56% or 2.80 points to end at 106.46 and Pharmstandard JSC (MCX:PHST) shed 2.53% or 26.0 points to 1001.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 118 to 93 and 27 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 6.12% to 36.690 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 1.17% or 14.60 to $1230.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 2.37% or 0.88 to hit $36.30 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 2.30% or 0.91 to trade at $38.62 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 1.71% to 71.1730, while EUR/RUB rose 1.71% to 79.065.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 96.64.
