Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Public Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.64%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Hypermarcas SA (SA:HYPE3), which rose 5.05% or 0.86 points to trade at 17.89 at the close. Meanwhile, Banco Bradesco SA (SA:BBDC4) added 2.56% or 0.55 points to end at 22.03 and Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3) was up 2.35% or 0.70 points to 30.45 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3), which fell 6.30% or 0.31 points to trade at 4.61 at the close. Cia Hering (SA:HGTX3) declined 4.42% or 0.70 points to end at 15.15 and Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) was down 4.28% or 0.13 points to 2.91.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 187 to 123 and 5 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.41% to 45.86 a new 1-month low.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.80% or 9.30 to $1156.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 6.88% or 2.97 to hit $46.17 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 1.66% or 1.95 to trade at $119.25 .
USD/BRL was up 0.51% to 3.9076, while EUR/BRL fell 0.56% to 4.2692.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.69% at 97.70.
