Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Industrials and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 3.35% or 1.870 points to trade at 57.710 at the close. KBC (BR:KBC) added 1.47% or 0.810 points to end at 55.960 and Groupe Bruxelles Lambert SA (BR:GBLB) was up 1.46% or 1.10 points to 76.34 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD), which lost 3.75% or 0.78 points to trade at 19.87 in late trade. bpost NV (BR:BPOST) declined 2.16% or 0.47 points to end at 21.31 and UCB (BR:UCB) shed 1.42% or 0.91 points to 63.40.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 86 to 48 and 16 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.10% or 1.25 to $1225.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.75% or 0.34 to hit $45.91 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.77% or 0.36 to trade at $46.99 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.35% to 1.0654, while EUR/GBP fell 0.43% to 0.8554.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.29% at 100.67.
