Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Capital Goods, Power and Metals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.03%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (NS:IOC), which rose 2.86% or 12.25 points to trade at 440.75 at the close. Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone (NS:APSE) added 2.06% or 7.00 points to end at 347.50 and Larsen & Toubro Limited (NS:LART) was up 2.05% or 35.05 points to 1744.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hero MotoCorp Limited (NS:HROM), which lost 3.50% or 118.90 points to trade at 3282.35 in late trade. Indiabulls (NS:INBF) declined 3.04% or 34.00 points to end at 1085.95 and Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN) shed 2.32% or 29.65 points to 1250.15.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Larsen & Toubro Limited (BO:LART) which rose 2.00% to 1742.80, Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone (BO:APSE) which was up 1.56% to settle at 347.65 and Wipro Ltd. (BO:WIPR) which gained 1.21% to close at 508.70.
The worst performers were Hero MotoCorp Limited (BO:HROM) which was down 3.07% to 3289.80 in late trade, Lupin Ltd (BO:LUPN) which lost 2.25% to settle at 1250.70 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 1.75% to 345.10 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 862 to 716 and 7 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1433 rose and 1316 declined, while 167 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.74% to 11.1125.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.14% or 1.72 to $1225.38 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.26% or 0.12 to hit $46.55 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.24% or 0.12 to trade at $49.46 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.40% to 64.680, while EUR/INR rose 0.22% to 70.4595.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 99.29.
