Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Durables, Banking and Public Sector Undertakings sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.13%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bank Of Baroda (NS:BOB), which rose 4.05% or 6.55 points to trade at 168.30 at the close. Yes Bank Ltd. (NS:YESB) added 4.02% or 48.40 points to end at 1253.50 and ACC Ltd (NS:ACC) was up 2.38% or 37.60 points to 1620.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bosch Ltd (NS:BOSH), which lost 1.96% or 460.85 points to trade at 23020.65 in late trade. Coal India Limited (NS:COAL) declined 1.85% or 6.10 points to end at 324.35 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) shed 1.30% or 30.60 points to 2328.45.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which rose 2.54% to 165.65, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was up 1.94% to settle at 257.60 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (BO:HALC) which gained 1.74% to close at 143.25.
The worst performers were Coal India Limited (BO:COAL) which was down 1.97% to 324.20 in late trade, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which lost 1.29% to settle at 2328.55 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was down 1.15% to 248.25 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1008 to 462 and 69 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1738 rose and 933 declined, while 191 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.13% to 14.7625.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.25% or 3.35 to $1327.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.65% or 0.29 to hit $45.19 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.49% or 0.23 to trade at $47.33 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.35% to 66.892, while EUR/INR fell 0.28% to 75.0840.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.03% at 95.51.
