Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Public Utilities, Financials and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.75% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Via Varejo SA (SA:VVAR3), which rose 6.21% or 0.28 points to trade at 4.79 at the close. Cia de Saneamento Basico do Estado (SA:SBSP3) added 5.34% or 2.11 points to end at 41.60 and Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) was up 4.68% or 1.28 points to 28.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which lost 2.65% or 0.27 points to trade at 9.91 in late trade. Lojas Renner SA (SA:LREN3) declined 1.87% or 0.78 points to end at 40.93 and Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA:NATU3) shed 1.59% or 0.71 points to 44.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 251 to 198 and 33 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.69% to 31.36.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.14% or 1.85 to $1291.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 1.71% or 0.88 to hit $50.71 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 1.35% or 1.40 to trade at $102.45 .
USD/BRL was down 0.33% to 3.6985, while EUR/BRL fell 0.36% to 4.2405.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 95.227.
