Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Public Utilities, Electric Power and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 1.13% to hit a new 3-months low.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3), which rose 3.64% or 0.60 points to trade at 17.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) added 1.71% or 0.170 points to end at 10.090 and Cia Hering (SA:HGTX3) was up 1.63% or 0.18 points to 11.21 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3), which fell 6.57% or 0.37 points to trade at 5.26 at the close. ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) declined 6.12% or 0.06 points to end at 0.92 and Cia Energetica de Minas Gerais (SA:CMIG4) was down 5.72% or 0.55 points to 9.07.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 203 to 94 and 5 ended unchanged.
Shares in ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) fell to all time lows; losing 6.12% or 0.06 to 0.92. Shares in Cia Energetica de Minas Gerais (SA:CMIG4) fell to 5-year lows; falling 5.72% or 0.55 to 9.07.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 9.99% to 38.08 a new 3-months high.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.45% or 4.90 to $1099.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.59% or 0.28 to hit $48.16 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 0.21% or 0.25 to trade at $122.10 .
USD/BRL was up 1.79% to 3.3449, while EUR/BRL rose 1.74% to 3.6726.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 97.35.
