Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financials, REITs and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite rose 0.20% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Lithium Americas Corp (TSX:LAC), which rose 5.05% or 1.14 points to trade at 23.71 at the close. Canaccord Genuity Group Inc (TSX:CF) added 5.00% or 0.74 points to end at 15.54 and Canfor Corporation (TSX:CFP) was up 4.68% or 1.20 points to 26.83 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Osisko Mining Corp (TSX:OSK), which lost 3.31% or 0.10 points to trade at 2.92 in late trade. B2Gold Corp (TSX:BTO) declined 3.28% or 0.16 points to end at 4.72 and Sandstorm Gold Ltd . (TSX:SSL) shed 2.96% or 0.24 points to 7.87.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 529 to 489 and 124 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.83% or 14.95 to $1793.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.30% or 0.88 to hit $68.42 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.28% or 0.90 to trade at $71.31 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.08% to 0.7937, while CAD/EUR fell 0.15% to 0.6746.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 92.873.
