China shares lower at close of trade; Shanghai Composite down 1.04%

Investing.com – China equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Real Estate Investments & Services, Travel & Leisure and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Shanghai, the Shanghai Composite lost 1.04% to hit a new 52-week low, while the SZSE Component index lost 0.91%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Shanghai Composite were BanBao Co Ltd (SS:603398), which rose 10.02% or 1.540 points to trade at 16.910 at the close. Zhejiang Jiaao Enprotech Stock Co Ltd (SS:603822) added 10.00% or 2.590 points to end at 28.500 and Shanghai Sanmao Enterprise Group Co Ltd A (SS:600689) was up 9.97% or 0.910 points to 10.040 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Ningbo Bird Co Ltd (SS:600130), which lost 10.12% or 0.330 points to trade at 2.930 in late trade. Guangzhou Yuetai Group Co Ltd (SS:600393) declined 10.08% or 0.390 points to end at 3.480 and Air China Ltd Class A (SS:601111) shed 10.03% or 1.090 points to 9.780.

The top performers on the SZSE Component were Tonghua Golden-Horse Pharmaceutical Industry Co Ltd (SZ:000766) which rose 7.99% to 11.90, Anhui Gujing Distillery Co Ltd (SZ:000596) which was up 7.03% to settle at 94.11 and Shaanxi International Trust Co Ltd (SZ:000563) which gained 6.13% to close at 3.46.

The worst performers were Guangdong Eastone Century Technology Co Ltd (SZ:300310) which was down 10.03% to 5.38 in late trade, Westone Information Industry Inc (SZ:002268) which lost 10.02% to settle at 18.95 and ZTE Corp (SZ:000063) which was down 10.01% to 13.48 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 819 to 509 and 66 ended unchanged on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

The CBOE China Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Shanghai Composite options, was unchanged 0.00% to 20.99.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.20% or 2.60 to $1268.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.07% or 0.05 to hit $68.53 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.31% or 0.99 to trade at $74.33 a barrel.

USD/CNY was up 0.44% to 6.5346, while EUR/CNY rose 0.24% to 7.6041.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 94.30.
