Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer Durables, Power and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.06%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF), which rose 3.29% or 39.30 points to trade at 1235.00 at the close. Bosch Ltd (NS:BOSH) added 2.09% or 434.95 points to end at 21126.20 and Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) was up 2.00% or 23.40 points to 1195.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ITC Ltd (NS:ITC), which lost 2.02% or 5.35 points to trade at 260.05 in late trade. Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) declined 1.67% or 4.80 points to end at 283.25 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) shed 1.53% or 2.95 points to 189.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which rose 2.39% to 507.00, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was up 2.08% to settle at 1195.25 and ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which gained 1.90% to close at 311.60.
The worst performers were ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was down 2.00% to 260.10 in late trade, Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which lost 1.70% to settle at 283.10 and Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) which was down 1.62% to 450.30 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 916 to 666 and 8 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1457 rose and 1207 declined, while 134 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.52% to 13.2675.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.05% or 0.69 to $1284.39 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.11% or 0.06 to hit $56.87 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.08% or 0.05 to trade at $63.54 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.12% to 64.957, while EUR/INR rose 0.16% to 75.3945.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 94.69.
