Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate, IT and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.17%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which rose 14.32% or 28.25 points to trade at 215.40 at the close. Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI) added 1.85% or 22.70 points to end at 1247.45 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) was up 1.41% or 26.40 points to 1901.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI), which lost 5.38% or 14.90 points to trade at 263.00 in late trade. Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) declined 2.61% or 4.70 points to end at 175.40 and UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL) shed 1.95% or 14.85 points to 747.35.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which rose 8.39% to 213.85, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was up 1.61% to settle at 1245.40 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which gained 1.17% to close at 1901.75.
The worst performers were Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which was down 2.93% to 92.85 in late trade, Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which lost 2.72% to settle at 175.35 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 1.92% to 422.50 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1043 to 529 and 67 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1500 fell and 919 advanced, while 146 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.59% to 17.4350.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.40% or 5.15 to $1278.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.15% or 0.08 to hit $52.70 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.05% or 0.03 to trade at $61.11 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.07% to 71.225, while EUR/INR fell 0.22% to 80.8245.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.30% at 96.058.
