Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Consumer Durables, Real Estate and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.39% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI), which rose 2.19% or 9.15 points to trade at 429.70 at the close. Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB) added 2.54% or 7.80 points to end at 314.85 and Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN) was up 2.48% or 24.85 points to 1025.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT), which lost 2.18% or 18.60 points to trade at 836.35 in late trade. Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL) declined 2.06% or 25.95 points to end at 1234.20 and ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) shed 1.56% or 4.20 points to 265.15.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Lupin Ltd (BO:LUPN) which rose 2.67% to 1027.55, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was up 1.69% to settle at 186.65 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which gained 1.59% to close at 492.80.
The worst performers were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 1.71% to 1235.90 in late trade, ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which lost 1.56% to settle at 265.15 and Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was down 1.03% to 718.80 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1055 to 529 and 18 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1680 rose and 1003 declined, while 144 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 5.56% to 12.1125.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.08% or 0.99 to $1272.79 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $53.91 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.13% or 0.08 to trade at $60.21 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.08% to 64.832, while EUR/INR fell 0.11% to 75.4259.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 94.56.
