Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Metals and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.50%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.47%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Vedanta Ltd (NS:VDAN), which rose 3.65% or 5.50 points to trade at 156.00 at the close. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) added 2.35% or 6.15 points to end at 267.75 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) was up 1.99% or 82.85 points to 4242.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI), which lost 1.81% or 4.40 points to trade at 238.25 in late trade. Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) declined 1.51% or 7.10 points to end at 461.00 and Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) shed 1.29% or 9.55 points to 727.90.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which rose 3.62% to 156.10, HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which was up 1.59% to settle at 1260.85 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which gained 1.57% to close at 1525.05.
The worst performers were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was down 1.48% to 727.75 in late trade, ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which lost 0.94% to settle at 520.70 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 0.92% to 445.35 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1082 to 459 and 86 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1497 rose and 884 declined, while 158 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.13% to 14.6100.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.00% or 0.05 to $1568.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.63% or 0.40 to hit $62.87 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.71% or 0.49 to trade at $68.42 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.03% to 71.846, while EUR/INR fell 0.23% to 80.2770.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 96.480.
