Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Real Estate, Metals and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.32%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI), which rose 4.93% or 18.95 points to trade at 403.55 at the close. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (NS:HPCL) added 4.23% or 18.45 points to end at 455.00 and Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) was up 2.66% or 10.65 points to 410.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which lost 2.65% or 9.90 points to trade at 363.00 in late trade. Vedanta Ltd (NS:VDAN) declined 2.37% or 7.60 points to end at 313.40 and State Bank Of India (NS:SBI) shed 2.02% or 5.20 points to 251.75.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which rose 5.04% to 403.40, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was up 1.66% to settle at 2500.50 and Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which gained 1.43% to close at 290.65.
The worst performers were Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was down 2.02% to 415.25 in late trade, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which lost 1.97% to settle at 251.60 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was down 1.47% to 2374.90 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1113 to 451 and 16 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1748 fell and 885 advanced, while 99 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 5.56% to 11.7300.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.15% or 1.94 to $1291.86 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.75% or 0.38 to hit $51.30 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.35% or 0.20 to trade at $56.81 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.05% to 65.168, while EUR/INR fell 0.08% to 76.9822.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 93.06.
