Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Fast Moving Consumer Goods and IT sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.36%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF), which rose 1.89% or 23.45 points to trade at 1264.30 at the close. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) added 1.61% or 3.90 points to end at 245.80 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) was up 1.27% or 52.15 points to 4150.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN), which lost 3.58% or 17.60 points to trade at 474.25 in late trade. Bosch Ltd (NS:BOSH) declined 2.58% or 574.30 points to end at 21661.90 and ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) shed 2.53% or 7.15 points to 275.70.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) which rose 0.75% to 382.20, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was up 0.71% to settle at 1644.60 and Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which gained 0.69% to close at 255.45.
The worst performers were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 3.73% to 475.00 in late trade, ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which lost 2.43% to settle at 275.55 and Lupin Ltd (BO:LUPN) which was down 2.05% to 971.30 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 788 to 756 and 27 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1310 rose and 1195 declined, while 132 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.80% to 13.1200.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.04% or 0.60 to $1343.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.35% or 0.17 to hit $48.83 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.86% or 0.46 to trade at $53.84 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.04% to 64.113, while EUR/INR rose 0.20% to 76.5163.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 92.19.
