Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Real Estate, Public Sector Undertakings and Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.87% to hit a new 1-month low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.78%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL), which rose 3.70% or 59.45 points to trade at 1664.95 at the close. Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB) added 1.55% or 4.95 points to end at 323.55 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) was up 1.28% or 2.20 points to 173.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included State Bank Of India (NS:SBI), which lost 4.03% or 11.50 points to trade at 273.80 in late trade. Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF) declined 3.55% or 42.60 points to end at 1158.25 and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (NS:HPCL) shed 3.46% or 8.95 points to 249.40.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which rose 3.87% to 1666.15, Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was up 1.43% to settle at 323.15 and Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which gained 1.02% to close at 332.50.
The worst performers were State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was down 4.06% to 274.00 in late trade, Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which lost 3.36% to settle at 251.45 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which was down 2.84% to 2775.90 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1210 to 393 and 55 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1764 fell and 833 advanced, while 156 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.55% to 14.4150.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.12% or 1.40 to $1204.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.08% or 0.74 to hit $69.42 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.17% or 0.91 to trade at $78.96 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.21% to 72.695, while EUR/INR rose 0.23% to 84.9445.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 94.16.
