Investing.com – India equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate, Consumer Durables and Metals sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Banking and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.11%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NS:HDFC), which rose 1.27% or 31.90 points to trade at 2549.95 at the close. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) added 1.10% or 6.45 points to end at 590.45 and Divi's Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI) was up 1.01% or 38.30 points to 3838.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Shree Cements Ltd. (NS:SHCM), which lost 2.44% or 599.95 points to trade at 24000.00 in late trade. Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) declined 1.52% or 44.35 points to end at 2864.95 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) shed 1.41% or 75.75 points to 5279.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which rose 1.31% to 2550.00, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was up 1.13% to settle at 590.70 and ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which gained 1.05% to close at 534.00.
The worst performers were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 1.51% to 2865.00 in late trade, UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which lost 1.33% to settle at 5284.30 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 1.32% to 509.15 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 943 to 699 and 74 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1696 rose and 1192 declined, while 148 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.07% to 21.0950.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.18% or 3.50 to $1896.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.37% or 0.18 to hit $48.22 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.39% or 0.20 to trade at $51.43 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.10% to 73.053, while EUR/INR fell 0.21% to 89.7190.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 89.567.
