Investing.com – India equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Metals and Public Sector Undertakings sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Real Estate, Banking and IT sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.03%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO), which rose 8.08% or 8.85 points to trade at 118.05 at the close. Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) added 7.30% or 13.30 points to end at 194.85 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) was up 5.29% or 6.30 points to 125.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NS:HDFC), which lost 2.81% or 59.10 points to trade at 2044.15 in late trade. Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF) declined 2.25% or 10.30 points to end at 447.95 and ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:ICBK) shed 2.24% or 8.90 points to 389.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which rose 7.81% to 118.05, Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which was up 6.71% to settle at 53.30 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which gained 5.17% to close at 125.20.
The worst performers were Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which was down 2.67% to 2043.70 in late trade, ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which lost 2.16% to settle at 388.90 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 1.35% to 2215.80 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1000 to 554 and 69 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1396 rose and 944 declined, while 139 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.22% to 17.2725.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.68% or 10.55 to $1549.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.18% or 0.10 to hit $56.16 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.12% or 0.07 to trade at $60.77 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.14% to 71.865, while EUR/INR rose 0.05% to 79.4465.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 98.153.
