Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Construction, Transportation Equipment and Fishery sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Tokuyama Corp. (T:4043), which rose 6.21% or 30.0 points to trade at 513.0 at the close. Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. (T:4183) added 4.68% or 23.0 points to end at 514.5 and Nitto Denko Co (T:6988) was up 3.75% or 258.0 points to 7145.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Toho Co., Ltd. (T:9602), which lost 2.83% or 90.0 points to trade at 3085.0 in late trade. Japan Tobacco Inc (T:2914) declined 2.79% or 115.0 points to end at 4000.0 and Bridgestone Corp. (T:5108) shed 1.99% or 78.0 points to 3840.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1839 to 1038 and 397 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 3.17% to 19.27 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.76% or 0.38 to $50.32 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.70% or 0.36 to hit $51.88 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.51% or 6.45 to trade at $1263.05 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.09% to 103.99, while EUR/JPY rose 0.31% to 114.62.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.19% at 97.67.
