Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Real Estate and Warehousing sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd. (T:5202), which rose 2.81% or 28.0 points to trade at 1024.0 at the close. Toshiba Corp. (T:6502) added 2.28% or 7.0 points to end at 314.5 and Asahi Glass Co., Ltd. (T:5201) was up 1.99% or 95.0 points to 4880.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Shiseido Co., Ltd. (T:4911), which lost 2.12% or 118.0 points to trade at 5446.0 in late trade. Yahoo Japan Corp. (T:4689) declined 1.90% or 10.0 points to end at 517.5 and Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. (T:5801) shed 1.42% or 80.0 points to 5560.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1826 to 1499 and 240 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 2.96% to 15.64.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.65% or 0.39 to $60.23 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.68% or 0.45 to hit $66.61 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.02% or 0.30 to trade at $1297.50 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.16% to 112.72, while EUR/JPY fell 0.11% to 134.69.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 92.29.
