Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Building & Construction, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 fell 1.60% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Bankinter (MC:BKT), which rose 0.17% or 0.014 points to trade at 8.129 at the close. Distribuidora Intl de Aliment (MC:DIDA) added 0.04% or 0.002 points to end at 5.488 and Abertis Infr (MC:ABE) was down 0.09% or 0.015 points to 16.230 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ACS Actividades de Construccion y Servicios SA (MC:ACS), which lost 3.90% or 1.370 points to trade at 33.780 in late trade. Indra A (MC:IDR) declined 2.83% or 0.365 points to end at 12.525 and Grifols SA (MC:GRLS) shed 2.69% or 0.680 points to 24.615.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 131 to 43 and 17 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.26% or 3.27 to $1245.83 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.31% or 0.14 to hit $44.88 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.13% or 0.06 to trade at $47.60 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.43% to 1.1427, while EUR/GBP fell 0.03% to 0.8798.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.37% at 95.43.
