Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Information Technology, Healthcare and Footwear & Textile sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share gained 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Mercantile Shipping Company PLC (CM:MSL), which rose 21.61% or 18.30 points to trade at 103.00 at the close. Lee Hedges PLC (CM:SHAW) added 15.13% or 59.00 points to end at 449.00 and Namunukula Plantations PLC (CM:NAMU) was up 14.29% or 8.50 points to 68.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Shalimar Estates (CM:SHAL), which lost 11.21% or 255.00 points to trade at 2020.00 in late trade. Lanka Ashok Leyland PLC (CM:ASHO) declined 10.80% or 163.40 points to end at 1350.00 and Hapugastenne Plantations PLC (CM:HAPU) shed 10.45% or 2.10 points to 18.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 101 to 79 and 46 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 1.41% or 0.58 to $41.77 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 1.89% or 0.81 to hit $43.72 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.75% or 9.30 to trade at $1244.30 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.70% to 207.450, while USD/LKR fell 0.01% to 145.195.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.15% at 94.31.
