Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Financial Services and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC rose 0.39%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Infraestructura Energetica Nova SAB (MX:IENOVA), which rose 3.31% or 2.62 points to trade at 81.80 at the close. Alpek, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALPEKA) added 3.24% or 0.920 points to end at 29.300 and El Puerto De Liverpool Sab De CV (MX:LIVEPOLC1) was up 2.97% or 3.29 points to 114.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grupo Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GMEXICOB), which lost 3.17% or 1.810 points to trade at 55.210 in late trade. Nemak SAB de CV (MX:NEMAKA) declined 2.71% or 0.38 points to end at 13.65 and VOLARIS A (MX:VOLARA) shed 2.62% or 0.28 points to 10.41.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 179 to 110 and 12 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.10% or 1.30 to $1293.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.60% or 0.43 to hit $71.77 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.18% or 0.14 to trade at $79.71 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.82% to 19.6110, while EUR/MXN fell 1.53% to 22.9383.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.44% at 93.92.
