Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Insurance and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 gained 0.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Total Nig (LAGOS:TOTAL), which rose 5.00% or 11.40 points to trade at 239.51 at the close. Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) added 4.69% or 0.030 points to end at 0.670 and Dangote Flour Mills PLC (LAGOS:DANGFLOUR) was up 2.38% or 0.15 points to 6.41 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN), which lost 4.85% or 0.80 points to trade at 15.68 in late trade. Union Bank LG (LAGOS:UBN) declined 4.83% or 0.29 points to end at 5.71 and Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB) shed 3.96% or 0.95 points to 23.05.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 39 to 29 and 16 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.40% or 0.19 to $47.72 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.06% or 0.03 to hit $51.69 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.39% or 5.05 to trade at $1291.65 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.09% to 423.990, while USD/NGN fell 0.55% to 360.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.43% at 93.40.
