Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms, Power and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX lost 0.29%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were NMTP (MCX:NMTP), which rose 3.85% or 0.3150 points to trade at 8.4900 at the close. Trubnaya Metallurgicheskaya Kompaniya OAO (MCX:TRMK) added 2.25% or 1.62 points to end at 73.70 and Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY) was up 1.50% or 10.00 points to 678.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included MTS (MCX:MTSS), which lost 3.24% or 9.45 points to trade at 282.50 in late trade. NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK) declined 2.44% or 3.31 points to end at 132.58 and MosEnrg (MCX:MSNG) shed 2.42% or 0.0740 points to 2.9860.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 116 to 105 and 22 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 2.93% to 16.160.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.49% or 6.30 to $1295.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.13% or 0.58 to hit $50.72 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.93% or 0.53 to trade at $56.41 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.24% to 57.6937, while EUR/RUB fell 0.45% to 68.2977.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 92.91.
