Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Mining, Oil & Gas and Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia fell 0.64%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were MVideo (MCX:MVID), which rose 2.44% or 9.80 points to trade at 412.00 at the close. NMTP (MCX:NMTP) added 2.44% or 0.1600 points to end at 6.7200 and NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK) was up 1.74% or 19.20 points to 1120.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included VTB (MCX:VTBR), which lost 2.20% or 0.0009 points to trade at 0.0400 in late trade. Surgut (MCX:SNGS) declined 2.17% or 0.620 points to end at 28.000 and SG mechel (MCX:MTLR) shed 2.06% or 1.80 points to 85.75.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 116 to 86 and 21 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 1.08% to 26.680.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.28% or 3.30 to $1202.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.16% or 0.81 to hit $69.06 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.88% or 0.69 to trade at $77.48 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.17% to 68.2289, while EUR/RUB rose 0.52% to 79.2905.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.28% at 95.10.
