Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Building & Construction and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 0.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Iberdrola (MC:IBE), which rose 2.38% or 0.156 points to trade at 6.706 at the close. Repsol (MC:REP) added 1.76% or 0.290 points to end at 16.805 and Endesa (MC:ELE) was up 1.41% or 0.275 points to 19.750 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Indra A (MC:IDR), which lost 4.24% or 0.450 points to trade at 10.170 in late trade. Distribuidora Intl de Aliment (MC:DIDA) declined 1.70% or 0.044 points to end at 2.550 and International Consolidated Airlines Group SA (MC:ICAG) shed 0.86% or 0.066 points to 7.568.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 95 to 88 and 18 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.28% or 3.50 to $1256.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 3.28% or 2.31 to hit $72.84 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 2.05% or 1.56 to trade at $77.70 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.57% to 1.1582, while EUR/GBP rose 0.07% to 0.8813.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.50% at 94.83.
