Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Services, Information Technology and Beverages & Tobacco sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share added 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB), which rose 14.29% or 0.1000 points to trade at 0.8000 at the close. AIA Insurance Lanka PLC (CM:AVIV) added 9.81% or 26.40 points to end at 295.50 and Chilaw Finance PLC (CM:CHIL) was up 8.42% or 1.60 points to 20.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kelani Valley Plantations PLC (CM:KVAL), which lost 13.69% or 8.20 points to trade at 51.70 in late trade. Property Development PLC (CM:PDL) declined 9.79% or 8.90 points to end at 82.00 and Maskeliya Plantations PLC (CM:MASK) shed 9.09% or 0.80 points to 8.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 79 to 66 and 65 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was up 1.52% or 0.67 to $44.74 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 1.18% or 0.54 to hit $46.12 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 1.31% or 17.15 to trade at $1287.35 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.19% to 184.670, while USD/LKR rose 0.42% to 148.730.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.74% at 97.66.
