Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Trading & Consumer Goods, Optoelectronic and Textile sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.65% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Tri Ocean Text (TW:1472), which rose 10.00% or 1.05 points to trade at 11.55 at the close. Sunonwealth (TW:2421) added 9.98% or 2.15 points to end at 23.70 and Taliang (TW:3167) was up 9.94% or 2.65 points to 29.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Candmark (TW:5259), which lost 7.33% or 0.22 points to trade at 2.78 in late trade. Super Dragon (TW:9955) declined 6.34% or 1.10 points to end at 16.25 and Choice Develop (TW:9929) shed 5.83% or 0.65 points to 10.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 495 to 247 and 111 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.21% or 0.10 to $46.55 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $47.62 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.04% or 0.55 to trade at $1327.95 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.00% to 31.986, while TWD/CNY rose 0.29% to 0.2082.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.09% at 96.61.
