Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Paper & Pulp and Oil, Gas & Electricity sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.79%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Chaun-Choung Technology Corp (TW:6230), which rose 10.00% or 10.00 points to trade at 110.00 at the close. Hannstar Display Corp (TW:6116) added 10.00% or 1.100 points to end at 12.100 and Champion Microelectronic Corp (TW:3257) was up 10.00% or 5.60 points to 61.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Enterex International Ltd (TW:1592), which lost 9.88% or 3.80 points to trade at 34.65 in late trade. Greatek Electronics Inc (TW:2441) declined 5.42% or 2.75 points to end at 47.95 and Jung Shing Wire Co Ltd (TW:1617) shed 3.15% or 0.40 points to 12.30.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 563 to 210 and 104 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.14% or 0.07 to $48.34 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $52.56 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.08% or 1.05 to trade at $1293.65 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.07% to 30.262, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2203.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 93.22.
