Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Textile, Semiconductor and Oil, Gas & Electricity sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.84%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Asia Optical Co Inc (TW:3019), which rose 9.89% or 8.30 points to trade at 92.20 at the close. AOPEN Inc (TW:3046) added 8.85% or 1.70 points to end at 20.90 and Eclat Textile Co Ltd (TW:1476) was up 8.70% or 30.00 points to 375.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Holy Stone Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3026), which lost 7.34% or 14.50 points to trade at 183.00 in late trade. Walsin Technology Corp (TW:2492) declined 6.79% or 21.50 points to end at 295.00 and Chilisin Electronics Corp (TW:2456) shed 5.95% or 7.50 points to 118.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 420 to 365 and 129 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to $69.17 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.09% or 0.07 to hit $74.58 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.25% or 3.10 to trade at $1221.40 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.13% to 30.591, while TWD/CNY rose 0.04% to 0.2236.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 94.92.
