Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Textile and Auto sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.94% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Tri Ocean Text (TW:1472), which rose 9.95% or 0.95 points to trade at 10.50 at the close. Tainan Cayman (TW:5906) added 9.94% or 0.620 points to end at 6.860 and Largan Precisi (TW:3008) was up 9.94% or 310.00 points to 3430.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Crowell (TW:2528), which lost 4.96% or 0.35 points to trade at 6.71 in late trade. China Metal (TW:1532) declined 4.95% or 1.75 points to end at 33.60 and Mercuries Data (TW:2427) shed 4.71% or 0.35 points to 7.08.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 485 to 267 and 99 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 1.05% or 0.48 to $45.20 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 1.12% or 0.53 to hit $46.84 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.01% or 0.15 to trade at $1332.05 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.40% to 31.938, while TWD/CNY rose 0.10% to 0.2095.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.02% at 96.08.
