Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the , Oil, Gas & Electricity and Plastic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.30%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Century Iron And Steel Industrial Co Ltd (TW:9958), which rose 10.00% or 4.80 points to trade at 52.80 at the close. Chia Ta World Co Ltd (TW:2033) added 9.72% or 1.20 points to end at 13.55 and Pal Wonn Taiwan Co Ltd (TW:2429) was up 9.69% or 1.25 points to 14.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included TPK Holding Co Ltd (TW:3673), which lost 9.95% or 10.10 points to trade at 91.40 in late trade. Taiwan Prosperity Chemical Corp (TW:4725) declined 9.89% or 3.55 points to end at 32.35 and Falcon Power Co Ltd (TW:1516) shed 6.22% or 1.30 points to 19.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 498 to 262 and 147 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.43% or 0.28 to $66.08 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.27% or 0.19 to hit $69.84 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.19% or 2.50 to trade at $1350.40 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.32% to 29.265, while TWD/CNY fell 0.37% to 0.2157.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 88.63.
