Investing.com - Canadian equities started mixed on Friday. The top gainers were Capped Financial, Capped Information Technology and Capped Consumer Discretionary indices. Renewable Energy and Clean Technology, Capped REIT and Capped Utilities were the top losers.
At the market open in Toronto, the TSX Composite Index climbed 0.60%. The TSX Venture and the TSX Smallcap also increased. The TSX Venture rose 0.79%, while the Smallcap was up by 0.63%.
- SilverCrest Metals (TSX:SIL): Increased 8.26% or 1.04 points to 13.63.
- Orla Mining (TSX:OLA): Climbed 4.16% or 0.230 points to 5.760.
- Ivanhoe Mines (TSX:IVN): Rose 4.46% or 0.88 points to 20.60.
- Vermilion Energy (TSX:VET): Dropped 2.04% or 0.29 points to 13.91.
- Innergex (TSX:INE) Renewable Energy: Fell 1.92% or 0.20 points to 10.22.
- Algonquin Power (TSX:AQN): Declined 0.90% or 0.07 points to 7.17.
In Commodities Trading:
- December Brent Oil Contract climbed by 0.46% or 0.36 points to 77.98 a barrel.
- Crude Oil for November delivery rose 0.41 points to 74.12 a barrel.
- Gold Futures for December delivery dropped 7.30 points to 2,671.90 a troy ounce.
Currency Markets:
- USD/CAD is at 1.35.
- EUR/CAD is at 1.49.
- The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.53% at 102.287.
