Investing.com - Canadian equities started with gains on Friday, with rises in nearly all sectors, the most notable ones being the Health Care, Information Technology, Financial and Industrials indices.
At the market open in Toronto, the TSX Composite Index rose 0.49%. The TSX Venture and the TSX Smallcap also increased. The TSX Venture climbed 0.02%, while the Smallcap increased by 0.67%.

- Filo Mining (TSX:FIL): Increased 8.99% or 2.645 points to 32.065
- Secure Energy (TSX:SES) Svcs: Climbed 5.24% or 0.60 points to 12.06
Top Losers:
- Gibson Energy (TSX:GEI) Inc.: Fell 2.19% or 0.50 points to 22.28
- Bank of Montreal (TSX:BMO): Declined 2.13% or 2.54 points to 116.76
- First Quantum Minerals (TSX:FM): Dropped 1.57% or 0.26 points to 16.28
In Commodities Trading:
- Crude Oil for September delivery fell 1.00 points to 74.81 a barrel.
- October Brent Oil Contract is down by 1.19% or 0.94 drop to 78.11 a barrel.
- Gold Futures for December delivery rose 12.05 points to 2,437.55 a troy ounce.
Currency Markets:
- USD/CAD cruises at 1.38.
- EUR/CAD gave up 1.50 and now stable just under 1.50 at 1.974.
- The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 104.415.
