Investing.com - Canadian equities started mixed on Monday with Materials, Communication Services and Energy indices rising; Renewable Energy and Clean Technology, Health Care and Consumer Staples falling.
At the market open in Toronto, the TSX Composite Index climbed 0.23%. The TSX Venture and the TSX Smallcap also increased. The TSX Venture rose 0.32%, while the Smallcap was up by 0.25%.

- BlackBerry (TSX:BB): Climbed 2.51% or 0.08 points to 3.27
- New Gold (TSX:NGD): Rose 2.28% or 0.080 points to 3.590
- Torex Gold (TSX:TXG): Increased 2.33% or 0.55 points to 24.19
Top Losers:
- Aya Gold & Silver: Declined 2.57% or 0.390 points to 14.770
- Wesdome Gold (TSX:WDO) Mines: Fell 1.65% or 0.23 points to 13.68
- K92 Mining (TSX:KNT): Dropped 1.53% or 0.12 points to 7.72
In Commodities Trading:
- Crude Oil for october delivery climbed 0.13 points to 75.67 a barrel.
- October Brent Oil Contract declined by 0.09% or 0.07 points to 79.61 a barrel.
- Gold Futures for December delivery fell 5.45 points to 2,532.35 a troy ounce.
Currency Markets:
- USD/CAD started the week below 1.37 at 1.3664.
- EUR/CAD is cruising over 1.50.
- The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 102.012.
