Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Electrical, Gas, Water & Multiutilities and Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were NMC Health PLC (LON:NMC), which rose 5.74% or 136.00 points to trade at 2504.00 at the close. J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY) added 2.34% or 4.80 points to end at 209.60 and Marks and Spencer Group PLC (LON:MKS) was up 2.23% or 3.95 points to 181.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aviva PLC (LON:AV), which lost 4.58% or 19.90 points to trade at 414.50 in late trade. Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) declined 3.21% or 69.00 points to end at 2083.00 and Johnson Matthey PLC (LON:JMAT) shed 2.19% or 71.00 points to 3165.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1142 to 1007 and 212 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.26% or 3.75 to $1472.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.88% or 1.09 to hit $56.74 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.91% or 1.21 to trade at $62.09 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.52% to 1.2966, while EUR/GBP fell 0.18% to 0.8546.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 97.615.
