Aug 7 (Reuters) - Canadian telecommunications company Telus
Corp T.TO reported a 5.1 percent rise in quarterly revenue as
the company added 115,000 net wireless postpaid customers in its
mobile, internet and television businesses.
The company, which competes with Rogers Communications Inc
RCIb.TO and BCE Inc BCE.TO , said wireless network revenue
rose 6.1 percent to C$1.57 billion ($1.20 billion) in the second
quarter ended June 30.
The Vancouver-based company's external wireline revenue rose
2.4 percent to C$1.38 billion.
Operating revenue rose 5.1 percent to C$3.10 billion, in
line with average analyst estimate of C$3.09 billion.
Net income fell to C$341 million, or 56 Canadian cents per
share, in the quarter, from C$381 million, or 62 Canadian cents,
a year earlier.
On an adjusted basis, Telus earned 57 Canadian cents per
share, below the estimated 66 Canadian cents, according to
Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.
Operating expenses before depreciation and amortization rose
7.6 percent to C$2.02 billion.
